Kiddos love to play dress-up. I delight in seeing the expressions on their faces as they imagine themselves into whomever they want to be. This collection represents some of my favorite designs developed over the past 15 years. Guidelines for making toddler and baby costumes can be more strict due to testing, but the challenge is welcomed.
We develop costumes that can be worn across many age ranges. This category in particular requires serious focus because these kids are in control of what they want. If we provide the right product, they will make sure their parents buy it.
You have a little more license to be provocative with adult costumes. Halloween has always been a chance to let it all hang out. However, there’s a balance to be struck between sexy and safe. As you will see, I recognize that costumes will be worn by all sorts of body types, and that many of these costumes can be worn as a mother/daughter theme. AND, these days more than ever, women are just as interested, if not more so, in dressing up silly as opposed to straight up sexy.
Boys just want to have fun. Men’s costumes provide an opportunity to poke a little fun at society and we’ve always excelled in this category. Whether licensed costumes or instant classics, men’s costumes tend to elicit a laugh for sure. This is where we use the most foam to achieve structure and dimension. Historically, men have been less body conscious so it’s been easier to make something foamy and silly. Times are changing though, and women want in on the comedic action.
Couples costumes are close to my heart. Every year my husband and I “cheat” at halloween parties by showing up in matching halloween costumes from my company. I’m 5’3”, and he’s 6’2” so picking out something that makes sense for us both can be difficult. I always consider these potential obstacles when designing for the public.
